AT processes document text strictly to execute your translation requests:
- On-Device Translation (Chrome Built-in AI):
When using Chrome's native translation engine, all document parsing, text extraction, and translation happen entirely on your local machine. No document content leaves your device.
- Third-Party Cloud Engines (Google Translate / DeepL):
If you choose Google Translate or DeepL, the specific text segments to be translated are sent via encrypted HTTPS requests directly to the respective translation provider's API. This data is transmitted solely to perform the requested translation and is governed by the respective provider’s terms:

The Extension utilizes Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local / chrome.storage.sync) exclusively on your device to store:
Your user preferences (e.g., target language, default engine).
User-provided API keys (such as custom DeepL or Google Cloud keys).
API keys and settings are stored locally in your browser profile and are never transmitted to any server managed by AT.4. Chrome Permissions
